Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful.....But We Have Cake!

The wind!  The rain!!  The lack of sleep!!!

Tossed and turned until a little after 3am, was awake in earnest by then and out of bed at 4:30am.  BH did follow me out and feel worse for him as he has to be outside and crawling around under caravans this morning piping them up.  At least for the moment (probably until he gets set under a caravan) it has stopped raining, the sun is out and the wind has died down considerably.  I don't dare go to bed early tonight as I'd be up by 4-5am tomorrow morning thus starting a hard to break cycle.  Wouldn't be so bad if there was actually something to do that early in the morning, but there really isn't, which makes it absolutely senseless to be up at that time.  Could always look into moving onto a farm I suppose.  LOL   At least I did get my 'basics' online shop done to be delivered tomorrow, nice as delivery was free :-)

According to the menu, today is sausage casserole.  Got the sausages out of the freezer Monday and put the chickpeas to soak yesterday, I'll get them boiling in a bit.  I've made the whole pack and will try freezing the extra as suggested by Shirley on Taste The Goode Life.  I've really never used any sort of dried beans/pulses much in the past, so at my ripe old age this is a first.  I was surprised at how much water they soak up!  Good thing I put them in an oversized pan, otherwise they would have been overflowing onto the counter this morning.

I made the traybake above yesterday afternoon, wanted to give it a go because although I've made Coffee Walnut cakes before, this recipe was one of those where all the ingredients go in at once then just stir it up and bake.  Does make me wonder why there needs to be so many steps to some cakes.  I'll get the recipe posted, hopefully tomorrow.  Now I'm off to continue the search for a lovely and protective bag for the MacBook Pro - no easy feat!  I keep running into the same three categories:  Big, Ugly and Black  -  A bit of style but too thin (skin/sleeve)  -  Great size, room for extras, lovely to look at but.....EXPENSIVE!  I think someone needs to come up with a tech/gadget shop with a full line of accessories for women.  I shall add it to the suggestion box.  Just as soon as I've found it . . .
