Some Of The Somerset Haul And 'That Bag'

Ok, this is the end.  Is that applause I hear?  Surely not!  lol

These are a few of the 'goodies' brought back from Somerset and the last photo is of that lovely bag I told you about that SilverSewer made and brought to me when she was here on her holiday in October.  It will get much use in the years to come!  As a matter of fact I can envision balls of yarn and needles in it .... hmmm.... funny since I don't knit, lol!  Have possibly caught the 'bug' though, I'm determined not to pursue it until I've got some sewing under my belt.  One thing at a time K, one thing at a time!

The first two are videos from the Chalice Well Gardens.  Bear in mind please that they were taken with a still camera and it was cold and wet which I'm blaming for the shakiness :-)  No great event taking place in them, I just adore the sound of running water and these two features took my eye.  The Gardens were nearly empty of others and so peaceful by the running water.

The photos are as follows:  1) The symbol of the Chalice Well Gardens, known as the Vesica Piscis, I was really drawn to this symbol and wanted to bring it, in some form, back with us.  This is a brooch, but I intend to put it up somewhere here, possibly on a chain, I'm not sure yet and feel it will 'find it's own home' in time.

2) A couple of souvenirs for BH, my cider lover, from Perry's shop which was just down the road from us, I also got a 'chicken family' garden ornament which I've not taken a photo of - maybe they're shy!  And yes, he did pick up a few other things . . . .

3) Meditation/Prayer beads from the Chalice Well gift shop.  These can be very soothing to hold in your hand and move along the beads if you're a bit stressed whether or not you meditate or pray.  The ones I used to have weren't nearly as pretty, but they did get quite a work out from time to time.  I really enjoyed visiting the Chalice Well gift shop as it stocked with quality items and not the normal 'tat' you find at so many of these types of shops.  It is very small, but I could have lingered in there for hours!

4)  Enamel coated cast iron casserole.  I can't tell you how long I've drooled over the LeCreuset line of enamelled cast iron cookware.  Sad, eh?  lol  -  I've looked at other brands which just didn't measure up in quality or weight and could not justify the price for the real thing.  We made a few visits to the Clarks Village Outlet shopping centre, looking for gifts, and they had this in the ProCook shop.  It is VERY heavy and the enamel coating high quality so I picked it up, at about 1/3 the price of a comparable LeCreuset piece.  Used it last night to start off the oxtail (See this weeks meal plan) for today and it is just great!  All sorts of dark splatters inside and on the lid - almost wiped clean it was so easy :-)

Then last, but most definitely not least is the lovely bag!
